She's a Legendary Demon Hunter [Rebirth] - Chapter 9
Since she failed to eat any instant noodles last night, Mi Wan intended to try again today. She needed to leave earlier so she could venture further out to buy them while familiarizing herself with the surrounding environment along the way. After all, she would be staying around here for a good six months.
Once again, Mi Wan was hanging out on the top of the wall, missing the agility of her previous body when she was as light as a swallow. After resting on the top of the wall for a bit, she continued and leapt down.
Mi Wan’s body stiffened as she turned and looked down slowly, only to find that there was a flower pot next to her feet. The flower pot had broken into eight pieces, and the soil inside was scattered all over the ground. A small red flower laid miserably in the dirt on the side of the road. Mi Wan guiltily glanced towards the window on the second floor. She knew that the Big Demon Bro was right behind that window.
“I… I’ll buy a new flower pot to compensate you.” Mi Wan tenderly picked up the little red flower, afraid that it would not last until then, so she dug a hole next to the flowerpot and buried it temporarily. “Little Flower, please hold on, I will be back soon.”
With that, Mi Wan walked out of the courtyard guiltily.
Fan Chen glanced at the courtyard door as it lightly shook. With an expressionless face, he retracted his gaze and continued to heal his wounds.
After walking for three kilometers, Mi Wan finally found a 24-hour convenience store and marked it as her current favorite restaurant. (Author’s Note: Something doesn’t seem right here).
After eating all the instant noodles to her heart’s content, Mi Wan began to figure out a means to acquire a flower pot for the Big Demon Bro.
“Hey, man, is there a place that sells flower pots nearby?” Mi Wan inquired with the shop assistant while holding a bowl of instant noodles.
“Flower pots? There is a gardening supplies store nearby. It is about 500 meters or so to the left. You can go to buy it tomorrow morning,” The store clerk suggested.
“Can it be bought at night?” Mi Wan remembered that there were many shops in this world that opened late.
“It’s almost one o’clock. All the flower shops are closed. You should buy it during the day.”
As if I can come out during the day. If I really can’t buy it now, I’ll just go back to my own place and grab a flower pot to repay the demon guy. I wonder if that’s okay.
As Mi Wan was thinking about the possibility of compensating Demon guy with an old flower pot, suddenly, a somewhat familiar figure pushed through the door and ventured in. The person headed straight towards the shelves, grabbed two bottles of liquor and came forward to pay.
“How much is it?”
“One hundred.” The shop assistant scanned the goods.
The man paid the bill with his mobile phone, picked up the bottles and was about to leave. As soon as he turned around, he was directly in line with Mi Wan’s round face, frightening him so much that he almost threw out the bottles.
“You… you’re following me.” At the sight of Mi Wan, the sparrow spirit’s breathing instinctively became erratic as his body suffered physical and mental trauma.
“I’ve finished two bowls of noodles.” Mi Wan waved the bowl of instant noodles in her hand, indicating that she came to the convenience store before him. “You look depressed. Why are you turning to alcohol to forget your worries?”
Mi Wan glanced at the liquor in the sparrow spirit’s hands. It had only been a few days since she had been resurrected. Since then, she had been in the hospital, and then drug rehabilitation, and never gave thought to drinking. It was unusual to meet up like this, but it was also a good chance to experience the taste of liquor after 500 years and determine if it was still sweet.
That’s right, Mi Wan was in fact, a lush.
“Yup.” The sparrow spirit did not hide it. Besides, his worries were all caused by the demon hunter standing in front of him.
“I’ll drink with you.” Mi Wan said with her best ‘kind’ expression.
Yesterday I paid for your meal, today you drink my liquor. You demon hunters are a bunch of bullies!
“…” The look on the poor sparrow spirit’s face became even more withered, but what choice did he have? No matter how annoyed he was, he still couldn’t beat her…
So, they squatted on the door steps outside the convenience store, and raised a bottle of white liquor to each other. As soon as Mi Wan swallowed the alcohol, she felt that the alcohol content was not strong enough. It was much weaker than the alcohol from 500 years ago. However, it tasted smoother, and it was not as easy to get drunk on it.
Just as Mi Wan felt that the alcohol was not strong enough, the sparrow spirit was already dizzy from drinking half a bottle of white liquor.
“Don’t drink too much. You might turn back into your true form, and reveal your wings.” Mi Wan kindly reminded him. After demons become drunk, they could easily lose control over their demonic powers and reveal parts of their original appearance.
“Expose what wings? I can’t produce them even if I try.” As if reminded about some depressing incident, the sparrow demon suddenly wailed, “I’m a useless demon. I can’t even change back into my true form smoothly!”
“You’re that useless?” Mi Wan was shocked.
If you can’t turn back into your original form, can you really call yourself a demon?
“You think I’m useless too? Other demons who suffer from unstable demonic power would expose parts of their claws or ears. When I suffer from unstable demonic power, I still retain my human form. My mother also told me that I will definitely degenerate in the future. Give it a few decades at best, and I will degenerate into an ordinary sparrow. I’ll just end up pecking at corn in the fields everyday, unable to find a demon wife. But it’s fine. At least I can drink as much as I want without worrying that it will affect my demonic power, and reveal my wings.”
Mi Wan had to admit, that was a positive trait. At least if it were five hundred years ago, this sparrow spirit might have lived the longest.
